About Cherelle

Speaker. Coach. Facilitator. Innovator.

I’m Cherelle Witney, the founder of LIFT and inventor of Tricky Treats® for dogs.

I am a highly interactive (fun!) speaker, intuitive coach and performance facilitator.

Apart from my love of dogs, writing, board games and music, I love lifting leaders to be at their best, and creating innovative learning that delivers.

I believe that being curious to learn and willing to share that learning, keeps us all positively connected throughout our work and our life. And that helps us to remain courageous, agile and creative enough to meet any challenge along the way.

Often these can mean tough conversations, constant uncertainty of change, interpersonal conflict, unbalanced team dynamics, multiple demands, and issues of accountability and trust... and more!

I was born and raised in gorgeous Perth, Western Australia and I live there with my partner Adam and our adopted Beagle, Douglas.

The wisdom is always within

I have two businesses, both focussed on creating, curiosity and connection, which are shaped by this belief.

LIFT Performance Solutions is about helping leaders develop their courage so they can lead confidently. Tricky Treats® focuses on my love of dogs.

I developed a minor obsession with Brené Brown’s ground-breaking work on vulnerability, shame and courage — and how this can change lives. In 2016, trusting my own wisdom, I took a leap and became one of Australia's first Certified Daring WayTM Facilitators.

I’m so grateful for Brené’s work that has enriched the core leadership models by Lencioni, Kouzes and Posner, Goleman and others (that LIFT recommends) and provided contemporary data that supports the skills and tools LIFT’s leadership and team development programs have been sharing since 2010.

Don’t die wondering

Like many dog owners, I faced the conundrum of my dog being left home alone — to destroy things around the house and upset the harmony of the neighbourhood!

A "crazy idea" kept coming to me and I didn't want to die wondering so my partner and I went through the incredible journey of invention to bring a dog toy and treat dispenser to the market; one which keeps dogs positively occupied when paw-parents can’t be there.

Tricky Treats® has been patented, featured on TV, and is even used in Louisville Zoo's snow leopard enclosure in the US.

Life is short, so find out now what's possible. The worst that can happen is that it fails. While that's hard, being consciously vulnerable in failure is courage building; you rise stronger and wiser every time.

Think outside the box

Those who know me, know that my thinking occurs outside the traditional leadership learning box. In fact, many would say I tend to think outside the ROOM that the box is sitting in!

While this can drive me, and others, crazy, it’s also what’s behind my intuitive and innovative ability to help leaders and teams achieve so much more than they think they can, in ways they may never have dared to imagine.
